Realization of the project "Eduscience"
The project is being implemented within the Human Capital Operational Programme. Priority III – High quality of the education system – Measure 3.3.4 - Innovative projects
Project title:Increasing student competence in mathematical, natural and technical sciences using innovative methods and technologies – Eduscience.
Duration of the project: 01.03.2011 – 30.11.2014
Beneficiaries:
The project is aimed at students and teachers from 250 randomly selected schools in Poland at all stages of education.
Specific objectives of the project:
- Increasing interest in mathematical and natural sciences / information and technical sciences / foreign languages with a diametrical change of the current formula for teaching;
- Raising abilities related to recognizing and defining research problems and using research methods in the field of science by the participation of students in real research process;
- Development of skills in IT and computer technology in the learning process by using the e-learning/blended e-learning method;
- Increasing interest in science among female students by adapting forms of the project promotion, holding classes and learning programme construction to the gender requirements.
Project description
The primary objective of the project is to increase interest in starting studies in subjects of significant importance to the economy based on male and female students knowledge in Poland through compiling, initial implementation and popularization of innovative learning programmes by the use of the interactive e-learning platform. The project involves the state-of-the-art platform which will contain the lessons of geography, chemistry, physics and natural science prepared by the staff of the Polish Academy of Sciences affiliated to the Research Centre of the Earth and Planets GEOPLANET composed of Institute of Geophysics, Institute of Geological Sciences, Institute of Oceanography and Space Research Centre. The work of scientists will be accompanied by teacher-practicians under the supervision of professional methodologists.
With the Polish Academy of Science students will be able to benefit directly from the knowledge of scientists dealing every day with natural sciences and who are successful on an international scale. The youth participating in the project will have an opportunity to take part in a live satellite transmission from the Polar Station on Spitsbergen. The lessons have also been planned in observatories in Książ, Racibórz, Ojcowo, Belsko, Świdr and Hel as well as in a laboratory and the Earth Museum in Cracow. Some classes will be broadcast from the research vessel "Oceania" or be hold on the vessel "Horyzont II" where students will have an unique direct contact with science. None of the current projects within natural science in Poland is able to provide such a "live" and "fascinating" way of discovering the world of science.
All classes are aimed at using and implementing the latest knowledge about the brain structure and human needs and motivate the students to act and learn on their own initiative. To this end, each of created e-programs will contain modern and effective methods for working with students made in collaboration with the Accelerated Learning Systems and Edukacja Pro Futuro with the participation of Colin Rose who is a world-renowned expert in the field of accelerated learning and British government adviser on education. The created e-materials will also be compatible with the multimedia boards, which would certainly spice up the learning process in schools taking part in the project.
The technical aspect of the project will be developed by the American Systems company possessing extensive experience in the creation of e-learning tools.
